20th Century Fox Television and Chernin Entertainment are joining forces to produce a 13-episode action drama set in Ancient Egypt. The series, titled Hieroglyph, is infused with rich historical visuals.

Work on the series began in 2013.

The script was written by Travis Beacham, best known for his screenplay for Pacific Rin, a 2013 science fiction movie about gigantic monsters fighting humanity.

The first episode will be directed by British film and television director, Miguel Sapochnik, who made his name with Repo Men, a 2010 science fiction action thriller.

The cast includes Reece Ritchie as Pharaoh, Condola Rashad as Nefertari, along with Antony Bunsee, Kelsey Chow, Max Brown, Caroline Ford, and John Rhys-Davies.

20th Century Fox TV has not revealed when the first episode will be screened.
