The 2014 Cannes Film Festival competition for the coveted Palme d'Or -- for which the nominees were announced on 17 April -- includes films by masterful filmmakers from around the globe, including Olivier Assayas, the Dardenne brothers, Jean-Luc Godard, Ken Loach and David Cronenberg, among other illustrious names.
