Amr Salama’s highly anticipated movie Made in Egypt will be released during the Eid Al-Fitr holiday at the end of July in 100 theatres across Egypt. The film will concurrently screen in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries (GCC), Lebanon and Jordan.

According to Al-Ahram’s Arabic news website, Made in Egypt is the only Egyptian movie to see a cross-region premiere during the upcoming holiday. The Eid Al-Fitr feast celebrates the end of Ramadan -- the month-long period of fasting from dawn to dusk -- currently observed by Muslims around the world.

A product of New Century Production, in collaboration with Shadows Communications, the film's teaser has already witnessed unprecedented success on YouTube, reaching over half a million views only two weeks after its release.

The movie is directed by Amr Salama, who previously wrote and directed Zay Ennaharda (On a Day like Today, 2008) and Asmaa (2011). His third and latest feature film La Moakhza (Excuse My French) was rejected by censors more than three times before it was finally released at the beginning of this year.

"Made in Egypt tells the story of an aimless young man with no ambition who is cursed by his little sister. His attempts to free himself of the curse take him on a journey that teaches him many lessons," New Century Production reveals in its press release.

The film is written by Mostafa Helmy, starring Ahmed Helmy, Yasmin Raeis, Dalal Abdel-Aziz and Edward.
