Now in its fourth year, Tropfest Arabia is accepting short film submissions from Arab directors until 31 August. Finalists will be announced on 30 September, ahead of the actual festival night, which will take place on 7 November in Abu Dhabi.
The festival is open to citizens from the Middle East and North Africa regardless of experience. Submissions will be accepted from amateurs and professional directors from the following countries; Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.
Films should be made specifically for Tropfest Arabia, and must be seven minutes or shorter. The submission guidelines also dictate that the films must be must be culturally, politically and religious sensitive for Abu Dhabi.
"Tropfest Arabia's aim is to contribute to the development of the Arab film industry by providing an opportunity for the region’s filmmakers to bring their short films to the community," according to the festival's website. The festival is supported by twofour54 Abu Dhabi, which seeks to promote a sustainable Arab media and a dynamic entertainment industry.
