Palestine through films at the Arab World Festival, Milwaukee

Dedicated to presenting the Arab culture to local audiences, the Arab Film Festival held in Milwaukee, USA will run between 8 and 10 August

The three-day Arab World Festival (8-10 August) taking place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA presents an assortment of cultural riches from the Arab World.

Targeting the local community, the Arab World Fest will include exhibition, film screenings and family entertainment.

A selection of films focuses on movies about Palestine.

On 9 August, three movies will be screened: Hany Abu-Assad's film Omar which was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film at the Academy Awards 2014;   Flying Paper looking into the Palestinian resilient youth and Tears of Gaza (2010) directed by Vibeke Løkkeberg, winner of the Best Feature Film at the Göteborg Film Festival 2011.

On 10 August, a multi-award winning movie Occupation 101 directed by Abdallah Omeish and Sufyan Omeish explores historical aspects of the Palestine-Israel conflict while the second film The War Around Us looks into the region through eyes of a media reporter.
