Oscar nominated drama Brooklyn will screen in Cairo's art-house Zawya for two weeks, starting today, and in two other cinemas: Plaza Cinema (Sheikh Zayed) and Point 90 Cinema (Fifth Settlement), for one week.

Released in November 2015 and directed by John Crowley, the film's protagonist Eilis (Saoirse Ronan) is an Irish immigrant who arrives to New York where she has a romance with Anthony "Tony" Fiorello (Emory Cohen), a young man of Italian descent. As she becomes homesick, she has to make a choice: to continue with Tony or to settle back in Ireland.

The film received high critical acclaim with many nomination, including three nominations for the 88th Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Actress (Saoirse Ronan).

Ronan was also nominated to BAFTA, Critics' Choice, Golden Globe, and SAG nominations for best actress, and she won the BIFA Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a British Independent Film.
