Art Alert: Meeting with British filmmaker Laila Khan at Cairo's El-Sakia

El-Sawy Culturewheel (El-Sakia) wil hold a special evening with British film director and producer Laila Khan on Monday 10 July.

The evening will include screenings of two short documentaries by Khan: 6 Cup Chai (2014) and her most recent work Stolen Water (2016). The screenings will be followed by a discussion with the director.

After graduating from King's College London, Khan interned at Warner Bros, where she worked as a Production Assistant on Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. 

She then lauched her own production company; Brainworks Picture Company.

Her short 6 Cup Chai, which tackles child labor and education in India, was screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner 2014 and won a Venus de Badalona award for Best Values at the 40th edition of the FILMETS Badalona Film Festival in Spain. 

The Stolen Water, which addresses water theft in Jordan, was also screened at the Cannes Short Film Corner this year.
