Since this year is the centennial of the Egyptian novelist Naguib Mahfouz, many events dedicated to him are taking place across country.

Tomorrow 28 December, film critic Samir Farid will be holding a lecture on the literature Naguib Mahfouz, which will be followed by a screening of the film Midaq Alley directed by Jorge Fons and starring Salma Hayek.

The film, adapted from Mahfouz’s novel, is set in downtown Mexico has won 27 awards.

The event will start at 6pm at the Artistic Creativity Centre located in the Opera House Grounds.
