Zamalek will be looking to keep their winning run in the Egyptian league this season when they host Petrojet for a league game at PetroSport stadium in Cairo on Friday.

The Cairo giants, who claimed their eighth successive win this season earlier this month against Masry, are at the top of the league table with 35 points, five points ahead of second-placed Pyramids who have played one match more. Petrojet are second from bottom on 15 points.

The White Knights started their league campaign this season with a surprising goalless draw against Petrojet and they are hoping to avoid another surprise, as they are bidding for their first league title since 2014.

"There are no easy games in football," Zamalek coach Christian Gross told the club's official website on Wednesday.

"Our target is to win all games to regain the league title."

Zamalek will play Friday's clash without their regular defenders Mahmoud Hamdi and Mahmoud Alaa.

The former is yet to recover from a muscle injury that has seen him sidelined for around six weeks, while the second has received his third yellow card against Masry and will miss the game due to an automatic suspension.

With these absences, Gross will have to play his substitute defenders Mohamed Abdel Ghani and Mohamed Abdel-Salam, the latter a former Petrojet defender.

Tunisian fullback Hamdi Nagguez will also be unavailable due to a muscle injury, sustained in his side's 2-0 loss to Coton Chad in the Confederation Cup earlier this week.

On the frontline, Zamalek have no problems, with the team's offensive trio Mahmoud “Kahraba” Abdel-Moneim, Youssef “Obama” Ibrahim and Moustafa Fathi ready for the match.

On the other hand, Petrojet coach Momen Soliman, who is a former Zamalek coach, will be looking for a win to improve his side's situation in the league table.

The team are second from bottom with 15 points, two points ahead of Ismaily, who have four matches on their hands.

"The game is very difficult but we have no chance but to realise a positive result to improve our critical position in the table," the Petrojet coach told reporters on Wednesday.
