Dreamaway

The Egyptian-German-produced documentary Dreamaway will be screened at Darb 1718 on Sunday.

Directed by Marouan Omara and Johanna Domke, the film is about a group of young employees at a luxury hotel in Sharm El-Sheikh, and their encounters with the rich foreign visitors to the coastal city, which the filmmakers say has long been “a dream destination for Egyptian youth," because of the ability to make money there.

Produced by Roman Roitman, (Monokel/Germany) and Mark Lotfy (Fig Leaf Studio/Egypt) in 2018, the 86-minute film has shown at many festivals, including Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (Czech Republic), El Gouna Film Festival (Egypt), BFI London Film Festival (UK), Chicago International Film Festival (US) and Bergen International Film Festival (Norway).

Programme:
Sunday 24 March, 8pm
Darb 1718, Kasr El-Shamaa Street, Al-Fakhareen, Old Cairo
