The Egyptian film Al-Deif (The Guest) will be released in Jordan’s commercial cinemas starting 11 April.

Directed by Hady El-Bagoury with a script by journalist Ibrahim Eissa, the film was released in Cairo cinemas in late 2018 to mixed reviews and commercial success.

Starring Khaled El-Sawy, Ahmed Malek, Sherine Reda and Gamila Awad, the film centres on a young man attending a dinner party with a family, until their dialogue takes an unexpected turn.

The Guest has been shown at international festivals, premiering at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia, where it won the audience award.

The film marked the first ever Egyptian participation in the official selections of the festival.

It also screened at the Rotterdam Arab Film Festival and the Tetouan Mediterranean Film Festival.
