Goethe-Institut in Alexandria presents its annual Goethe Film Week, running 18-23 April.

This round features a fresh selection of German or German-Egyptian contemporary films, from features to documentaries, alongside special screenings and premieres of Arabic films.

Several screenings will have guests representing the film present who participate in Q&As afterwards.

Egyptian producer Mark Lotfy will attend the screening of Dreamaway, director Ahmed Magdy will attend the screening of his film The Giraffe, director Amal Ramsis will attend the screening of You Come From Far Away, and German director Alina Cyranek will attend Heaps of Love, screening at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.

As a first, the programme this year also includes Egyptian short films, which will be presented in the framework of Shubbak El Fann, that is also organised by Goethe-Institut.

The shorts programme includes seven films from young and emerging filmmakers, from documentaries to fiction and experimental.

All screenings are free entry, and doors close at full capacity.
