Between Two Seas, a film by Egyptian director Anas Tolba, will compete in the 22nd Brooklyn Film Festival this month.

The film will be screened twice, on 4 June and on 6 June, with Tolba in attendance.

Between Two Seas premiered at the Aswan International Women's Festival, where it earned two awards: the best director award, and the Naut award for best film supporting women's issues.

The film looks at social issues in Egypt and how they affect women, especially those in rural or underprivileged areas.

It centres on a woman who visits her hometown after her daughter has had a severe accident. The mother seeks justice for her daughter, while helping her complete her education and serving the community.

Between Two Seas is written by Marian Naoum, with a script by Amany El-Tunsi and Karim Dalil. It stars Fatma Adel, Yara Gubran, Tharaa Jubail and Mahmoud Fares.
