Next Saturday, 18 February, the cinema club of the Socialist Popular Alliance Party is holding a screening of the 1998 film West Beirut by the Lebanese Ziad Doueiri. Set during the outbreak of the civil war, the film takes a light approach to the bleak topic – following an adolescent and his two friends as they wander around town. However, with the unfolding of events, one can clearly see the effect of the civil war on the daily life of people.
The screening will begin at 6.30pm at 59 Abou Bakr El-Seddiq Street, Masr Gedida
