The fourth edition of the Sharm El-Sheikh Asian Film Festival will give a closer look at Ukrainian cinema, with its organisers cooperating with the Eastern European country's embassy in Cairo.
Ukrainian ambassador in Cairo Yevhen Mykytenko met with a delegation of the festival's organising body, Noon Foundation for Culture and Arts, headed by renowned journalist Gamal Zayda, to discuss cooperating for the upcoming edition, which is taking place between 20 and 26 June.
"It is very important to represent Ukrainian cinema at Sharm El-Shiekh Film Festival, since there is a big number of Ukrainians living in the South Sinai city," Zayda told Ahram following his meeting with the ambassador.
The fourth edition of the festival, which has seen many conceptual changes over its successive runs, revealed earlier Egyptian award-winner actress Elham Shain as the 2020 edition's President of Honour.
The event will celebrate youth and independent cinema with activities including filmmaking workshops.
The Noon Foundation, an Egyptian NGO co-founded by late filmmaker Mohamed Kamel Kaliouby, has run six different editions of this festival, which has had several different iterations.
With Noon trustees including directors Magda Wassef and Daoud Abdel-Sayed, as well as critic Magda Maurice, the upcoming edition of the Festival is expected to see major changes.
