The Bahrain Film Festival’s organisers have said they are postponing its first edition until further notice due to the national safety procedures in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
The event, which was due to launch this week, is organised by the Bahrain Film Club, and includes competitions for feature films, student films and documentaries.
The festival would this year mark the 40th anniversary of the founding of the film club, and had named Egyptian star actress Laila Eloui as head the jury of the feature film competition.
Forty-one cases of the viral disease have been confirmed in the Gulf kingdom so far.
