Egyptian comedian George Sidhom, a co-founder of one of the oldest stand-up comedy groups in the Arab world, Tholathy Adwaaa El-Masrah, has died at the age of 81, local media reported.

After Tholathy Adwaaa El-Masrah, which also featured El Deif Ahmed, who died young in 1970, George Sidhom paired with the third member, comedy legend Samir Ghanem, and together they took part in dozens of memorable films, television shows and plays.

Some are among the Arab world’s all-time classics like the 1978 hit play Al-Motazawegoon (“The Married.”)

Born in 1938 in Sohag, Sidhom appeared with almost all the big name actors and directors of his day.
