Mall of Arabia has announced plans to open a drive-in cinema.
"First we need to know what movies you’d like to watch? And what snacks you’d like to have?" Mall of Arabia said in a short post on its Facebook page on Monday, engaging thousands of users who were eager to share their ideas.
The exact date the drive-in cinema will open was not specified.
Located in 6th of October (Cairo outskirts), Mall of Arabia is a large commercial centre, which already has a Galaxy Cineplex cinema with several screens.
The drive-in cinema, which would be the first of its kind in Egypt, is being built at a time when entertainment venues like cinemas are shut down due to coronavirus.
Around the world as well as in the Arab region, numerous drive-in cinemas have begun operations over the past couple of weeks. In mid-May, the Mall of the Emirates (UAE) opened its own drive-in cinema.
Since 9 March, all movie theatres have closed alongside with suspending all other cultural activities across Egypt as part of the country's measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
