Egyptian short documentary Searching for Ghazala is among the line-up of Morocco's Agadir International Documentary Film Festival (Fidadoc) which is running its 12th edition between 14 and 19 December with online screenings.

Written and directed by Bassem Mortada, the focus is on "a director who is looking for an actor to play the main character in his feature film. During the auditions of a number of African refugees in Egypt, he meets Briku, a Sudanese who dreams of being a professional football player, an actor, and immigrating. Through auditions, we meet many different faces, and we very quickly get to know their views on life and the dreams they have away from home."

The film will be available online on Saturday 19 December.

Carrying the motto "Cinema everywhere, cinema for all," the Fidadoc is screening eight feature films and four short films represening 16 countries.

Originally, the festival was scheduled to take place in June, but it was postponed due to the pandemic closing cinema theatres. The organisers decided to run the festival online.

Screenings are available to all African countries for free and can be accessed through the festival's website.
