Egyptian filmmaker Morcos Adel revealed on his Facebook page that he has been hospitalised after being infected with COVID-19.
In his post, dated 31 December 2020, the director reveals that he has been struggling with the disease for over ten days, and as his state deteriorated, he has been checked into an intensive care unit.
"Life is cheaper than you think," he wrote on the post.
Most recently, Adel directed Second Chance, a TV series starring Yasmine Sabry, Ayten Amer, Nihal Anber, and Mohamed Abu Dawood.
He also directed Hawadit Al-Champs-Elysees, a TV series starring Azouz Adel, Nesma Bahi, and Injy El-Mokkaddem.
On Sunday, Egypt reported 1,309 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total infection tally to 142,187 since the outbreak began in February. The health ministry also reported 64 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 7,805.
