Egypt's new Aflemha Online Film Festival will celebrate women filmmakers

The online festival's first edition will take place between 28 January and 4 February 2021

Aflemha (Her Movies) Online Film Festival will launch its activities on 28 January and continue until 4 February.

The festival is still accepting entries. Those interested in participating should submit their films to Aflemha's website before 22 January.

Organised by the Cultural Development Fund, an arm of the culture ministry, the festival will screen numerous films by women filmmakers.

The opening and closing ceremony will be held in person, with events taking place at the Cairo Opera House's open air theatre on 4 February.

During the closing ceremony, the culture ministry will distribute prizes: Best Film Award (5000 EGP), Award for Best Director (5,000 EGP), Special Jury Prize (5,000 EGP), Audience Award (5,000 EGP), Best Actor Award (2000 EGP), Best Actress Award (2,000 EGP), Best Editing Award (2000 EGP), Best Photography Award (2000 EGP), and Award for Best Screenplay (2,000 EGP).

The festival's first edition will honor three renowned figures of Egyptian cinema: Actress Yosra, Actor Mahmoud Hemeida, and Screenwriter Abdel Rehim Kamal.
