Between Two Seas, a film by Egyptian Director Anas Tolba, will be screened at the New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) on Monday 8 February.

As part of the NYUAD's Arab films screenings series, the event will also include a Q&A with the director.

Between Two Seas premiered at the Aswan International Women's Festival 2019, where it earned two awards: the Best Director Award, and the Award for Best Film Supporting Women's Issues.

It also won the Best Narrative Feature (Anas Tolba) and the Certificate of Outstanding Achievement for Best Screenplay (Mariam Naoum) at the Brooklyn Film Festival (2019)

The film looks at social issues in Egypt and how they affect women, especially those in rural or underprivileged areas.

It centers on a woman who visits her hometown after her daughter has had a severe accident. The mother seeks justice for her daughter, while helping her complete her education and serving the community.

Between Two Seas is written by Mariam Naoum, with a script by Amany El-Tunsi and Karim Dalil. It stars Fatma Adel, Yara Gubran, Tharaa Jubail and Mahmoud Fares.
