Edison films at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina

A series of short films by the motion picture pioneer is taking place at Alexandria library

A series of short films by Thomas Edison will be screened from 16 until 20 January at the Alexandria library starting at 7 pm.

The four-day series will be divided into four different themes; "Fiction Film Forum", "American Cinema", "Edison Films" and "120 Years", and will include interviews with archivists and film scholars.

Edison, best known for his invention of the light bulb and phonograph, was also the pioneer of the motion picture with his invention the kinetoscope, a peep-show viewer that allowed people to watch a 30-60 second loop of film. He also invented various movie cameras and projectors.
