Egypt's two film festivals scheduled for later this month, the Ismailia International Film Festival for Documentaries and Shorts and the Aswan International Women Film Festival, have been postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Based on last week’s decision by the prime minister to halt all public gatherings amid stricter measures against a rising third wave, the two important film festivals have separately issued press releases revealing their delay.
This is not the first rescheduling of the two important cinematic events.
The new dates will be announced after the return of the culture and cinematic public activities.
Egypt reported 1,138 new coronavirus infections on Sunday, bringing total infections nationwide since the outbreak last year to 237,410. The health ministry has recorded 59 new fatalities on the same day, bringing the death toll to 13,904.
