Egyptian Culture Minister Ines Abdel-Dayem announced the launch of the new project 'Cinema Between Your Hands' across a number of governorates.

Part of the already ongoing 'Start Your Dream' project which develops and offers opportunities to young people interested in acting and the field of theatre at large, the new initiative, Cinema Between Your Hands, will develop the participants' awareness and skills in many aspects of filmmaking through workshops held across many Egyptian cities.

The participants of the workshops will be attending classes led by renowned specialists and professors working at the Higher Institute of Cinema. They include filmmakers, directors of photography, musicians, film critics, among others.

The workshops will last for three months, with the first planned to kick off in mid-August in both Fayoum and Alexandria.

During the specialised film camps and while spreading cinematic culture, the initiative will support the students to work on short promotional films that showcase Egypt's touristic locations.

Cinema Between Your Hands is implemented by the General Authority for Culture Palaces, a body that will provide its locations (palaces operating across many governorates) for the workshops.

Besides the educational activities, the culture ministry will also reprint copies of the Black and White magazine specialising in Egyptian seventh art, in addition to launching a website presenting the history of Egyptian cinema.
