Art Alert: Award-winning Palestinian film 'Gaza Mon Amour' to screen at Zawya cinema

The Palestinian film 'Gaza Mon Amour' by twin brothers Tarzan and Arab Nasser, which has won 10 international awards, will screen in various Arab countries, starting with Egypt at Zawya cinema this Wednesday.

The film, which has won awards at the international film festivals of Malmo, Toronto, Cairo, Antalya, Valladolid, and most recently Fribourg, has been submitted for the Oscars and has gained major attention during its successful tour, which has included the festivals of Chicago, Stockholm, Thessalonikia, Zagreb, and others since its 2020 premiere at the Venice Film Festival.

Gaza Mon Amour is about 60-year-old fisherman Issa’s (Salim Daw) attempts to declare his secret love to dressmaker Siham (Hiam Abbass), before he discovers an ancient statue of Apollo in his fishing net, which eventually causes trouble with the local authorities. Gaza Mon Amour also stars Maisa Abdelhadi, Georges Iskandar, Haitham Al-Omari, and Manal Awad.
