Egyptian actress Hanan Motawie has won the Best Acrtress Award at Hope International Film Festival Stockholm for her role in the film Qabel Lel-Kasr (Fragile) directed by Ahmed Rashwan.

The festival took place between 10 and 13 September 2021 through an online platform.

Fragile revolves around Nancy (Hanan Motawie), a Christian girl in her early thirties planning to join her mother and two brothers in Canada.

Rashwan, who also wrote and produced the film, trails this character during her last three days in the country, while she disentangles herself from what few ties and friends continue to link her with Cairo.

"The story of the film seems very simple," explains film critic Hani Mostafa, continuing that "Rashwan adds spice by creating an antagonist in Karim’s actor flatmate Hussein (Khaled Khattab, also the co-producer), who works with Laila in dubbing Mexican TV series."

Born in 1979, Motawie, the daughter of famous actors Karam Motawie and Soheir El-Morshedy, studied acting and started her career almost two decades ago, starring in many films including Al-Ghaba, Ewaa Weshak, El-Qashash and Youm W-Leila. She gained greater fame with her TV roles, starring in dozens of shows alongside first-class directors and crews, from 'Hadith El-Sabah Wal-Masaa' in 2001 to 'Amal Hayaty' in 2020.
