“Eight projects will be selected for discussion with the jury. The winning film will receive a prize of 1,500 euros in support for its post-production. The first runner up will receive a symbolic award of 500 euros,” the initiative curators explained in a statement released on Sunday.

Running since 2008, the Between Women Filmmakers Caravan describes its mission as “a project that seeks to strengthen an international network of women filmmakers from various regions of the world, especially in the Arab world, which contributes to advancing towards gender equality and interculturality.”

Among the caravan’s activities is the ‘Traveler Programme’, in which around 15 international films directed by women are selected for subtitling into Arabic and Spanish and are showcased across different countries throughout each year.

During the last 14 years, the caravan has organised over 60 film weeks in various countries, including Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine, Algeria, Spain, Bolivia, Germany, Guatemala, Argentina, Cuba, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, Mexico, El-Salvador, Paraguay, Nicaragua, Germany, and Slovenia.

The Rough-Cut Workshop will be held online on Friday and Saturday 12 and 13 November 2021 and is organised as part of the caravan’s annual screenings, which will also be held online during the same month.

Submissions for the Rough-Cut Workshop is open through the Between Women Filmmakers Caravan’s official website.
