Start Your Dream, a project aiming to develop young creative talents across Egypt’s governorates, will launch a five-day cinema camp in the Sinai tourist town of Dahab.

Start Your Dream usually targets creative youth with theatre workshops, yet most recently it also added to its activities ‘Cinema in Your Hands,’ a film-related segment.

In its upcoming camp, which will be held from 10 to 14 January on the coast of the Red Sea, the participants will be guided by a number of lecturers on cinema, including actor, director and scriptwriter Tamer Abdel-Moneim. The attendees will explore the world of cinema and its techniques.

The lectures will also include the screening of a film directed by Abdel-Moneim and showcasing the beauty of Sinai, specifically the Saint Catherine region.

This is the second educational camp led by the Start Your Dream initiative. In August 2021, the first training circle took place in Fayoum, south of Cairo.

The Start Your Dream project launched in 2018 in Cairo and was soon taken to many other Egyptian governorates. The project began by focusing on developing the theatrical skills of young people who live outside the capital, and as such have limited access to the creative development provided by specialists based in Cairo.

With the theatre specialists touring across the governorates, the participants have a chance to learn from their expertise and knowledge in a three-month workshop on acting, drama, and stage performance.

Over the past few years, Start Your Dream reached out to youth in Beni Suef, Kafr El-Sheikh, Port Said, Kerdasa in Giza, Aswan, Fayoum, Sharqiya, and others. In mid-2021, Start Your Dream introduced cinema-related activities.
