Egyptian actor Abdel-Ati Saleh dies at 58

Egyptian theatre and film actor Abdel-Ati Saleh died in early hours Saturday.

The news of the actor’s passing was revealed on social media by Actors' Syndicate member Mounir Makram.

No cause of death was provided.

Born in a Nile Delta town of Abu El-Matamir, Abdel-Aati Saleh moved to Cairo where he graduated at the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts and began acting in theatres and in radio programmes.

His journey in television series and films began in the 1980s and a few years later he landed roles that shed light on his talent.

He is best is known for numerous supporting roles including those in Al-Ashouria History: Al-Harafeesh (1998) and The Family of Hajj Metwalli (2001).

His last appearances were in television series such as Selsal Al-Dam 5 (2018) where he performed alongside stars of the Egyptian cinema like Abla Kamel and Riyadh Al-Khouli. He also appeared in Nesr El-Saeed (2018) and Younis Weld Fadda (2016), which was one of his prominent works, and the film Yoom Men El-Ayam (2017).

According to the Actors’ Syndicate, the funeral and prayers for Abdel-Aati Saleh will take place in his home town of Abu El Matamir.
