“We have already started to watch, invite, and follow up on the expected important films of the year along with the programming team,” stated festival director Amir Ramses.
Submissions for the films participating in various programmes and competitions will open from 15 May to 15 August on the festival’s website www.ciff.org.eg.
Some 98 films from 63 countries participated in the 43rd edition of the festival. The films included 27 world premieres, seven international premieres, 44 MENA premieres, and 15 Arab and North African premieres.
More than 40,000 tickets were sold during the 43rd edition, marking a larger turnout than in previous rounds.
The last edition saw the participation of 337 international guests.
The Cairo International Film Festival is one of the oldest festivals in the Arab world and Africa. It is the only festival in the region classified in the A category by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations.
