The producer was transferred to the ICU of a major hospital last week.

Alam El-Din's career did not start in the film industry. After his parents opposed him joining the Military Academy, he enrolled at the Faculty of Commerce in Alexandria and graduated in 1966. He later enrolled at the Faculty of Arts, Department of Sociology at Ain Shams Univeristy. He later worked in management in an oil company then at Hilton Hotels and Banque Misr.

His cousin, Egyptian Artist Fathi Hassan, who was the general manager of Misr Company for Acting and Cinema, and Studio Misr offered him a job in account management with the renowned late producer Ramses Naguib. 

Alam El-Din worked with Naguib as a production manager between 1961 and 1978, as well as director of the Khorshid printing and development lab from 1964 until 1967.

Throughout the following decades, Alam El-Din contributed to enriching the Arab cinema library with a large number of films, in which he worked alongside numerous known scriptwriters and directors such as Fateen Abdel Wahhab, Salah Abu Seif, Mahmoud Zulfikar, Helmy Halim, Hassan Al Imam, Niazi Mustafa, Hossam El Din Mustafa, Hussein Kamal, Ahmed Yahya.

His work in film production includes over 60 films spanning between the 1960s and 2010s.

The films he worked on include a number of known cinematic works such as Karamet Zawgati (My Wife's Dignity, 1967) directed by Fatin Abdel Wahab, Al-Zawga Al-Thania (The Second Wife, 1967) by Salah Abu Seif, Rawaa El Hob (The Splendor of Love, 1968) by Mahmoud Zulfikar, Emberatoreyet Meem (Empire M, 1972) by Hussein Kamal, Haza Ahebo, Haza Oreedo (I Love This, I Want That,1975) by Hassan El Emam, Wady El Zekrayat (Valley of Memories, 1978) by Henry Barakat, Abo El Banat (Father of Girls, 1980) by Tayseer Abood, Youm El Karama (Dignity Day, 2004) by Aly Abdel Khaleq, TV series Mozakerat Harami (Diaries of a Thief, 2009).

Furthermore, Alam El-Din supervised the production of a number of foreign films including the Italian production, The Golden Arrow (1962) by Antonio Margheriti and the Indian film The Great Gambler (1979) by Shakti Samanta.

Alam El-Din was a member of the Syndicate of Film Professions and the Chamber of Film Industry. He also worked as a professor of Production, Advertising and Public Relations at the Higher Institute of Cinema from 1982 to 1990.
