The 2022 production was initially released in theatres during Eid Al-Fitr feast, hitting big and reportedly collecting EGP 63 million in Egypt and over EGP 640 million in Gulf countries.

The film marks the return of Helmy to cinema since 2019’s Scarecrow.

Wahed Tani sheds light on a social worker at a prison who writes reports about the inmates’ mental state. His life takes a turn when he meets an old friend who has become a successful businessman.

He then moved to leading roles in films such as Sahar El-Layaly (2003), Saye Bahr (2004), Zaky Chan (2005), Alf Mabrouk (2009), and Bolbol Hairan (2009). He is also the voice of a storyteller in the 2014 film by Amr Salama, La Moakhza (Excuse my French).

His most recent works include roles in films Horoob Etirari (Forced Escape) in 2017, and Scarecrow (2019).

In 2021, the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) named Helmy as the Regional Ambassador for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), after cooperating with him successfully since 2017.
