The festival, which was approved by the Higher Committee for Festivals at the Ministry of Culture, is organised by Ebdaa Organisation for Cultures and Arts, a non-governmental organisation headed by cinematographer Samir Farag.
It is sponsored by a number of Arab artistic cultural entities.
Journalist Ayman El-Hakim will preside over the festival, and film professor Thanaa Hisham will serve as the artistic director.
“It will be a complete cultural project that combines various activities that will take place throughout the year, not only during the days of the festival,” El-Hakim stated to local newspapers on Monday.
Further details about the festival’s inaugural edition will be revealed soon.
