After Moussa (2021) and Men Agl Zeko (2022), the family comedy film Shalaby is the latest collaboration between Abdel-Aziz and director Peter Mimi.

Mimi is best known for his TV hit series Al-Ekhteyar and Kalabsh.

In Shalaby, Abdel-Aziz portrays the character of Saber, who dreams of quitting his tedious job as a mascot to become a marionette show creator to help nine-year-old girl Karma who lost her voice due to recent trauma.

Written by Mostafa Hamdy, Shalaby also features veteran comedian Bayoumi Fouad and star actress and pop star Ruby who also sings in the film.

In a duet with a child, Abdel-Aziz has released a promotional song for Shalaby titled “Saber”, collaborating with the same crew of Men Agl Zeko’s hit song El-Ghazala Rayaa; lyricist Menna Adly El-Keiy, composer Ihab Abdel-Wahed, and producer Ahmed Tarek Yehia.

Shalaby competes with international holiday releases, such as Avatar: The Way of Water, Megan, Shotgun Wedding, Black Adam, The Smurfs: Next Adventure, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

It is also competing with another Egyptian comedy, Nabil El-Gamil Akhisaay Tagmeel (“Nabil El-Gamil Plastic Surgeon”), from star comedian Mohamed Henedy which was released in late December.

The youngest son of the late legendary Egyptian actor Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz, Karim started his acting career in 2000 at an early age.

He has found stardom in recent years with several successful commercial films like Hatoly Ragel, Esh Al-Bolbol, Omar & Salwa, Gawaza Mery and Etlaouly Barra, and Mousa And Men Agl Zeko.

Peter Mimi has announced that five per cent of Shalaby’s income will be donated to Children Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357.
