The event brought together many Internationally-recognised celebrities from across the globe, including US actor Mel Gibson, Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan, Hollywood director Michael Bay, Colombian actress Sofia Vergara, Argentinean influencer Georgina Rodriguez, and many others among the honourees and hosts.
Among the Arab celebrities who attended and were honoured were Egyptian actor couple Ahmed Helmy and Mona Zaki, Egyptian actress Yousra, Moroccan football player Achraf Hakimi, Syrian singer Asaala, Saudi singer Abdul Majeed Abdullah, Egyptian star Mohamed Henedy, Lebanese singer Ragheb Alama and Egyptian singer Angham, to name but a few.
Many musicians performed at the event, including Egyptian singer Mohamed Mounir, young Nigerian pop star Rema, Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram, Egyptian rapper Wegz, Egyptian singer Ahmed Saad, Lebanese singer Marwan Khoury, Saudi singer Rashed al-Majid and Egyptian rock band Cairokee, who closed the night.
The awards' highlights included Egyptian hit film Kira & El Gin, whose director Marwan Hamed won best director and its stars Ahmed Ezz and Hend Sabry won best actor and actress.
Organised by Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority in cooperation with MBC Group, the Joy Awards is one of the largest award ceremonies of its kind in the Middle East.
It is part of the Vision 2030’s Quality of Life Programme that aims to position the Kingdom as a tourist destination as well as diversify cultural, social and entertainment activities.
