Visions Film Festival

In its 6th edition the Vision Film Festival will screen 32 films that are chosen from over 150 entries. Dedicated to the short films form, the festival provides meetings with the filmmakers, talks and masterclasses.

Aswan International Women's Film Festival
Continues until 10 March

The AIWFF, which kicked off on 5 March in the Upper Egyptian city and continues until 10 March, will screen 61 films from 37 countries as part of its six competitions. 10 films are competing in the Feature Film Competition; 18 in the Short Film Competition; five in the Egyptian Film Competition; seven in the Impact Competition; 11 films produced by the festival’s workshops; and 12 films in the Children’s Film Programme.

Egypt premiere: Savage Salvation (2022)

Sheriff Church (Robert De Niro) and Detective Zeppelin strive to keep the peace in their rough town where residents' only two interests are the church or oxycodone. Newly engaged Shelby John (Jack Huston) and Ruby Red seek a fresh start. The couple want to get clean and make a family with the support of Peter, Ruby's brother-in-law (John Malkovich). 

Ali El-Haggar concert

El-Haggar has been one of the best-known singers in Egypt and the Arab world over the past four decades. He has performed lyrics drawn from the poetry of Salah Jahin, Abdel-Rahman El-Abnoudy and Sayed Hegab. He has also collaborated with or performs to the music of some of the country's most renowned composers such as Baligh Hamdy, Sayed Mekkawy, Omar Khairat and Fathy Salama.

Ali Omar El-Farouk and Hany Bedair in concert

Guitarist Ali Omar El-Farouk accompanied by percussionist Hany Bedair presents a selection of flamenco guitar masterpieces by the greatest flamenco guitar legends of all time such as Sabicas, Paco De Lucía, Paco Peña, Vicente Amigo, Moraíto Chico, Diego Del Morao, as well as compositions by El-Farouk.

Charlie - musical

A musical play that revolves around the life of Charlie Chaplin and looks at the extent of his influence on the international film industry. The play tells his story from its human side and sheds light on the stages and difficulties that he overcame in his journey and artistic career.

Massar Egbari band

Founded in 2005, Massar Egbari is one of the leading independent bands in Egypt. The band has given hundreds of concerts in Egypt, the Arab region and internationally to a large fan-base following on their music. Besides performing as a band, Massar Egbari's members have also embarked on numerous solo projects.

The band's line-up includes Hani El-Dakkak (guitar and lead vocal), Ahmed Hafez (bass guitar), Tamer Attallah (drums), Ayman Massoud (keyboards) and Mahmoud Siam (guitar).

Screening of Nile Crocodile (2022)

Western Lectures Hall, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Alexandria

The 61-mins documentary is an intimate portrait of Abdelatif Abou Heif, the iconic Egyptian long-distance swimmer, seen through the eyes of his long-time friend Nabil El-Shazli. Screening is part of the Alexandrian Tales program and will be the film’s Egyptian premiere. Nile Crocodile is directed by Nabil El-Shazly.

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director.

Screenings of The Jump (2020)

Directed by Giedrė Žickytė (Lithuania), the events of The Jump (2020) take place in 1970 on the eve of Thanksgiving off the coast of the United States. The Lithuanian sailor Simas Kudirka jumped from his Soviet ship to land on the deck of a US Coast Guard in a desperate attempt to obtain political asylum.

Screenings of My Last Year as a Loser (2018)

Directed by Ursa Menart (Slovenia), the plot of My Last Year as a Loser (2018) follows Špela who graduated in art history and never had a stable job. His best friends left the country years ago and will not return, but Špela has decided to stay in Ljubljana. At 29, she finds herself alone, jobless and stuck sleeping on her disappointed parents' sofa in the midst of a seemingly endless Slovenian economic crisis. She decides to change her life.

Youssra El Hawary & Friends

A year after Youssra’s last live performance, she returns with a fresh formation and new songs, bringing the spirit of friends jamming together to the stage through playfulness and improvisations. The opening act will be pianist Andrew Milad.
