El-Tahan graduated from University with a degree in political science.
She started working as a broadcaster on the Nile Variety Channel in 2000 before turning to acting.
She landed a role in 45 Days (2007) directed by Ahmed Yousry and starring Ezzat Abo Aouf, Hisham Selim, Ahmed El-Fishawy and Ghada Abdel-Razeq.
This was followed by a role in Best Friends (2009), a film by Ahmed Samir Farag starring Ahmed El-Saadany, Marwa Abdel-Moneim and Lana Said, among others.
She then appeared in Egyptian television series such Unknown Number (2012), Temporary Name (2013), The Seven Commandments (2014) and Ramadan Kareem (2017).
Her funeral was held in Cairo on Friday.
