Cairo International Film Festival to participate in three events at Cannes

The Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) will participate in three events associated with the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, which will take place from May 16 to May 27.

On May 21, CIFF  will present and endorse director Talal Selhami's upcoming film The Shelter as part of the Cannes Film Market's Fantastic 7 initiative. 

On May 24, CIFF will support a workshop called Prioritizing Wellbeing at Work: Sparking the Conversation amongst Festivals, in cooperation with WorkPlace Options and Sane Cinema, as part of the Festivals Hub activities. 

On the same day, CIFF will also support Festivals Mixer, a networking event for prestigious festival representatives, filmmakers, producers, and distributors, in association with the Festivals Hub.

CIFF President Hussein Fahmy and CIFF Director Amir Ramses will attend the Cannes Film Market from May 16 to May 24 to represent the festival.

The Cairo International Film Festival is one of the oldest and most prestigious festivals in the Arab world and Africa and is the only festival in the Arab and African region registered as ‘category A’ by the International Federation of Producers in Paris. 

The festival’s upcoming edition will run between 15 and 24 November 2023.
