Ard Al-Million is an Arab remake of the Dutch reality TV competition Million Dollar Island.
Working in partnership with Blue Engine Studios, the MBC media company chose Saudi actor and TV presenter Mohamed Al-Shehri to host the show that will be screened on MBC1 and MBC Iraq.
Mirroring the Dutch show, Ard Al-Million includes 100 Arab contestants who face mental and physical challenges to win $1 million.
MBC1 and MBC Iraq have already begun posting snippets of the contestants taking their first challenges on YouTube and social media.
The contestants participating in this social experiment are aged 19 to 73, with an equal ratio between men and women, representing 15 Arab countries.
The contestants begin the competition with a bracelet worth $10,000, which has a decisive role in the game.
In Ard Al-Million, the contestants collect other bracelets by winning physically demanding challenges, which increases their chances of receiving the final prize.
If a contestant chooses to leave the competition, they must gift their bracelet to another player, which adds a strategic element to the game.
The series’ first episode aired on Wednesday.
The contest will continue for 40 days, after which the winner will be revealed.
