Kira & El-Gin is based on Ahmed Mourad's best-selling novel, 1919, which delves into the historical events surrounding the Egyptian Revolution of 1919 against British occupation.

The film stars popular actors Karim Abdel-Aziz, Ahmed Ezz, Hend Sabry, Sayed Ragab, Asma Abul-Yazeid, Ahmed Malek, Huda El-Mufti, Aly Kassem, and others

Anticipated to be one of the most-watched offerings on the Saudi platform, the film was not only one of the biggest hits of 2022 but also the highest-grossing film in Egyptian box office history.

Produced by Synergy Film, the film’s music scores were composed by Hesham Nazih, while the cinematography was handled by Ahmed El-Morsy and editing by Ahmed Hafez.

The film was shortlisted to represent Egypt at the 2023 Academy Awards but the Cinema Syndicate’s selection committee ultimately decided not to nominate any film for the Oscars in 2023.

Kira & El-Gin won big at the 49th edition of the Film Society Festival for Egyptian Cinema, earning awards for best film, best director, the audience award, and excellence award in acting for Karim Abd El-Aziz. Razan Gamal was recognized as the Best Actress in a Supporting Role.

The film also received accolades for its technical achievements, including best visual effects, best styling, best décor, best music score and best photography.
