A shot from the trailer of Morad Mostafa s fourth short film I Promise You Paradise
This is the film’s third prize since its world premiere last month at the Cannes International Film Festival’s Critics Week as it won the 27th Rail d'Or Award for best short film and the Valbonne’s Audience Award.
I Promise You Paradise is representing Egypt at the 45th edition of the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), taking place at the Cairo Opera House in November.
The organizers of the CIFF congratulated Mostafa for his Romanian triumph on Sunday through their social media.
It will also compete in a number of festivals including the Portuguese Curtas Vila do Conde International Film Festival.
I Promise You Paradise
Co-written by Mostafa and Sawsan Youssef, the film revolves around Eissa, a 17-year-old African immigrant in Egypt, who races against time after a violent accident to save his loved ones at any cost.
The film is an Egyptian-French joint production between Bonanza Films, producer Sawsan Youssef, French producer Margot Laurier, Red Star, Sea Cinema, Shift Studios and Film Clinic.
The film’s crew comprises cinematographer Mostafa El-Kashef, editor Mohamad Mamdouh, art director Eman Elalby and sound designer Moustafa Shabban.
