Egyptian media mourns TV programmes director Ehab Abu Zaid

Ehab Abu Zaid, Egyptian TV programmes director, passed away on Thursday due to a heart attack.

Dozens of media personalities and entities mourned the head of Al-Nahar TV network, with social media and news headlines filled with posts during the third day of Eid Al-Adha.

Abu Zaid had extensive experience directing hit TV programmes featuring popular actors such as Ghada Adel, Ahmed Helmy, Ashraf Abdel-Baki, and Riham Abdel-Ghafour, as well as star anchors like Injy Ali, Samar Yousri, and Mariam Amin.

Over two decades, he held important positions at major Egyptian channels including El-Mehwar and DMC, as well as serving as a senior producer at United Media Services, the leading Egyptian media production company.

After graduating from the High Cinema Institute in 1988, Abu Zaid collaborated with notable Directors of Photography (DOPs) such as Tarek El-Telmissany, Mohsen Ahmed, and Samir Farag before directing numerous advertisements.

The Egyptian Cinema Syndicate and Censorship Authority were among the cultural organizations mourning Abu Zaid, offering condolences to his family and friends.

Several actors, including Amir Karara, Salah Abdulla, Riham Abdel Ghafour, and Tamer Farag, were among those expressing their condolences for Abu Zaid's passing.

Abu Zaid's final words on social media were, "Time will make you realize who God protected you and blessed you with what you needed. Alhamdulillah," were widely shared in news and social media posts.

His funeral was held on Friday at a mosque in El-Tagammo’ El-Khames (Fifth Settlement), with media personalities such as anchors Amr Ellissy and Mofida Shiha, as well as film director Moataz El Tony, in attendance.
