The Rotterdam Arab Film Festival will screen 28 films from various Arab countries within three segments: Feature, Documentary, and Short Films.
Actress El-Behery will serve on the jury panel of the feature film competition alongside Mohamed Keblawi, a Swedish-Palestinian director and producer, who is also the founder and head of the Malmo Arab Film Festival; and Saudi cinematographer Saleh Fouzan.
She appeared in various TV series and films such as Sanah Ula Nasb (2004), Special Operations (2007), and Real Dreams (2007), among others.
Screenwriter Mohamed Abdel-Khalik is joining the jury of the Short Film Competition alongside Tunisian actress Mariem Ferjani and Moroccan actress Nisrin Erradi.
A graduate of the College of Fine Arts, Division of Expressive Arts (Theatre and Cinema stage/plateau design) as well as a Higher Institurte of the Art Criticism department, Abdel-Khalik has written scripts for many Egyptian films, including El-Hareth (Tiller, 2020), Elly Ekhtasho Mato (The Decen Ones Have Died, 2016), Adrenaline (2009), The Second Gate (2009), among others.
His latest title '5 Mohi El Din Abu El Ezz' (2023) is in post-production.
Three Egyptian films
Three Egyptian films will participate in various competitions. - Ahmad Abdalla's 19B, Sherief El-Katsha's Far From the Nile, and Nadia Fares's Big Little Women.
The Rotterdam Arab Film Festival, which was launched in the early 2000s, is organized by the Stichting Arab Film Festival in cooperation with several Dutch and Arab organizations.
The festival aims to support Arab cinema and Arab filmmakers and to promote understanding among the Arab and European people.
