Syrian actor Saeed Abdel-Salam died in the early hours of Thursday following a long struggle with illness

Born in 1941 in Damascus, Abdel-Salam has countless titles carrying his name.

Though he worked primarily in television series, especially in the last decade of his life, he has also carved himself a name in the cinema.

His most recent known appearances in the TV series include Bab El-Hara (The Neighborhood's Gate, 2022) directed by Mohamed Zuhair Ragab and Manal Omran, Ala Safeeh Sakhen (2021) directed by Saiful Din Subayie, Fawda (2018) by Samir Hussein, among dozens of others.

He was also applauded for his role in a highly popular historical TV series titled Omar Al-Khayyam (2002).

Abdel-Salam's film portfolio includes The Half-Meter Incident (1981), Naji El Ali (1992), and Al Aba'a Al Sighar (2006), among others.
