Fragments of Time - exhibition
The exhibition opened on Tuesday, 9 January and continues until 30 January.
Safarkhan Art Gallery, 8 Brazil Street, Zamalek, Cairo

Fragments of Time showcases work of Neama El-Sanhoury’s fabric appliqué and collage tapestries. Elements of elaborate collage work are interwoven amongst such spirited textile arrangements, establishing an altogether unacquainted aesthetic, one that is steeped in the nostalgic memories of yesteryear, Egypt’s hallowed fertile ground, and the legacies of its cultural confluence over the ages.

Panorama of the European Film
The 16th edition of Panorama of the European begins on 11 January and continues until 20 January.
Cinema Zawya (downtown Cairo), Zamalek, Point 90, Arkan cinemas in Cairo, Jesuit Centre in Alexandria and Jesuit Centre in Minya.

The rich programming will focus on the most notable productions of European cinema, featuring numerous films which have already been screened at major international festivals.

The productions include films from France, Bulgaria, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Sweden, among other countries, many of which have won major international awards.

The Beekeeper - film

In The Beekeeper, one man’s brutal campaign for vengeance takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as “Beekeepers.”

The film stars Josh Hutcherson, Jason Statham, Jeremy Irons, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, Phylicia Rashad.

Alexandria Opera Ensemble for Music and Arab Singing

Alexandria Opera House (Sayed Darwish Theatre), Alexandria

The Alexandria Opera Ensemble for Music and Arab Singing will be conducted by Ahmed Amer. 

The evening will feature several singers: Yasser Said, Ayman Mostafa, Mostafa Saad, Mohamed Al-Khouly, Walaa Tolba, among others.



1st Annual Storytellers Club Performance

The Storytellers Club is a developmental-programme performance consisting of a total of 10 scenes. The performances stem from an acting course and a directing course that joined together to create the scenes. The courses were instructed by Moustafa Khalil.

The 10 scenes are divided into two different groups and will have different show-times. Each scene will be an average of 20 minutes and there will be an intermission in a single group-performance.

A Christmas Carol - theatre performance
Friday, 12 January, 7pm
Ewart Hall, AUC Tahrir Campus, Cairo

The performance features a group of children actors known as The Littlest Lamb. The young troupe presents their rendition of Charles Dickens' timeless novel, A Christmas Carol, in Arabic language.

 

El-Mashroo3 Band - concert
Saturday, 13 January, 8pm
Room Art Space & Café, 10 Etehad Al Mohamin st., Garden City

The band will perform a concert themed “Space Toons” taking the listeners to their childhood memories of the youth and the future!

Weavings of Threads & Words - exhibition
The exhibition opens on Sunday, 14 January at 6pm and continues until 21 February
Mashrabia Gallery of Contemporary Art, 15, Mahmoud Bassiony street, Qasr El-Nil, Cairo

The solo exhibition by Sabah Naim, in which the artist discovers a profound connection between the principles of Sufi movements and her weaving techniques. The intricate process of textile manufacturing inherently involves the interweaving of diverse threads and colors to create a unified form. 

Sunday Cinema
Sunday 14 January, 7pm
Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Alexandria

A weekly programme Sunday Cinema will present a session dedicated to late Lebanese filmmaker and journalist Jocelyne Saab (1948-2019). The evening will include screening of some restored short films.
