Alexandria's El-Cabina Centre will screen the short film 'Bahari' and host a roundtable discussion with its director Ahmed Ghoneimy on Sunday 9 September

El-Cabina Centre in the heart of Alexandria is set to host a screening of the award winning 13-minute-short film 'Bahari' on Sunday, 9 September, along with a roundtable discussion with the film's writer and director Ahmed Ghoneimy.

The film's name refers to a poorer neighbourhood in Alexandria that has the same name, and touches upon issues of the classist society that Egyptian big cities tend to be drenched in. In the film, the lead character Amr, while working on an art project in Bahari, is drawn to filming a playful group of small children. This incident provokes two locals leading to an interesting encounter with Amr.

'Bahari' was featured in several film festival selections, including the Hamburg Short Film Festival (winner), Rencontres de l'image au Caire 8ème édition (winner), International Film Festival Rotterdam, Durban International Film Festival, 8th Dubai International Film Festival, and others.
