Winners of 24th Rotterdam Arab Film Festival revealed

The 24th Rotterdam Arab Film Festival (RAFF) came to an end on 2 June with a ceremony announcing the winning films.

The festival took place place between 30 May and 2 June, featuring 14 feature-length films, and several short films, representing Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Algeria, Jordan, Palestine, Qatar, Egypt, and Tunisia.

The RAFF, one of Europe's oldest and fastest-growing festivals, is dedicated to showcasing films from the MENA region and presents many award-winning titles.

The winners of 24th RAFF are as follows:

Feature Film Awards

Best Actor: Ali Kalthami for his role in Night Courier (Saudi Arabia)
Best Actress: Afef Ben Mahmoud for her role in Backstage (Morocco)
Best Screenplay: The Teacher (Palestine, Qatar) by Farah Nabulsi
Best Director: Adil El Fadili for My Dad is Not Dead (Morocco)
Best Film: Take My Breath (Tunisia) by Nada Mezni Hafaiedh
Audience Award: The Teacher (Palestine, Qatar) by Farah Nabulsi

Documentary Film Awards

Best Director: Cyris Aris for Dancing on the Edge of a Volcano (Lebanon)
Best Film: From Abdul to Leila (Saudi Arabia) by Leila Albayaty

Short Film Awards

Best Short Film: Closure (Jordan) by Mooney Abu Samra
Special Mention: I Promise You Paradise (Egypt) by Morad Mostafa
