Al-Ghawy, which will be aired during Ramadan, marks Mekki's return after his peak in Al-Kabeer and Al-Kabeer Awy, aired between 2010 and 2024 in eight seasons.
Directed by Mohamed Gamal Al Adl to the scenario by Mahmoud Zahran and Tarek Al-Kashef, Al-Ghawy will mark Mekki’s departure from light comedy towards a new emotional, dramatic role.
Mekki portrays Shams Nasr Al-Adawi, a thug who decides to improve his life after his wife’s death. However, challenges appear on his way as he struggles to become a proper single dad.
The series also stars Tunisian actress Aïcha Ben Ahmed alongside the Egyptian cast, which includes Amr Abd El-Guelil, Karam Gaber, Sayed Ragab, and Ahmed Bedeir.

Mekki is one of the most popular Egyptian actors.
Born in Algeria to an Algerian father and an Egyptian mother, he came to Egypt at a young age and graduated from the Institute of Cinema’s directing department.
He launched his career by directing a few short films and television productions before embarking on acting in the mid-2000s.
Mekki’s iconic role was in El-Kabeer and El-Kabeer Awi, where he portrayed several characters.
In addition to his roles in cinema and TV series, Mekki has also established himself as a rapper, releasing a few compositions for which he wrote lyrics.
