The awards were revealed on 16 February, but the GEA ceremony will occur on 1 March in the Algarve, Portugal.

This is the second time film editor Markos Erian has won this award at the GEA, following his teaser for the Saudi-Egyptian film Hajjan (Abu Bakr Shawky).

Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo tells the story of Hassan (Essam Omar), a young man in his thirties who is forced to confront his past fears. He embarks on a journey of self-discovery, which includes a quest to save his dog and best friend, Rambo, from an unknown fate.

It stars Essam Omar, Rakin Saad, Sama Ibrahim, and Ahmed Bahaa, the co-founder of the Sharmoofers band, in his debut acting role.

The film is the first feature-length narrative for director Khaled Mansour, who co-wrote it with Mohamed El-Hosseiny.

It had its world premiere at the 81st Venice International Film Festival (28 August-7 September 2024), where it was screened in the official selection.

This was followed by a screening at the Cinemamed Festival in Belgium, where it won both the Grand Prize and the Jury Award.

After that, it won the Jury Award at the Red Sea Film Festival and received a Special Mention at the 35th Carthage Film Days.

This year, on 1 January, the film premiered in Egyptian cinemas.

Seeking Haven for Mr Rambo is produced by Mohamed Hefzy through Film Clinic and producer Rasha Hosny in her feature film production debut. Film Clinic Indie Distribution Worldwide is responsible for film distribution.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian film The Teacher (Farah Nabulsi) won the Best Trailer award in the MENA region.

The GEA celebrates outstanding marketing and promotion work for films, series, and major games from different countries. Categories honour trailers, behind-the-scenes content, key art, and social media campaigns.
